Renewable
Materials sourced from plants, animals, and microbes that can be replenished within a person's lifetime and are obtained from sources that have the intention of reducing potential impacts on the planet.
Regenerative
Materials produced using agricultural practices that are intended to help promote biodiversity, enhance water cycles, improve soil health and/or sequester carbon.
Recycled
Materials that have been reprocessed using inputs that were recovered or diverted from the waste stream.

Biobased foams
All Vans biobased foams are made with at least 25% material partially derived from plants and are USDA Certified Biobased.
Rubber (natural & regeneratively grown natural)
The renewable, natural rubber sourced by Vans comes from trees and is not a product of deforestation, helping us to protect wildlife biodiversity. Recycled, renewable, & regenerative textiles
To qualify for our internal sustainable design standards, Vans apparel and accessories contain one or a blend of man-made cellulosic fibers, organic cotton, recycled nylon and/or recycled polyester.

- Paper: shoe boxes, paper wrap, hang tags, sandal hangers, inserts
- Plastic: polybags (retail & samples), shoelace bags, sandal bags
All plastic product packaging will be recycled = nothing in a landfill by 2030

- Intentionally designing select product for disassembly, reuse, and recycling
- Collecting used product and establishing recycling, resell, or donation pathways for all materials
